With over 40 years of experience in large format and alternative process photography, Kerik’s work and reputation as a photographer and educator are legendary. He regularly teaches at the Ansel Adams Darkroom in Yosemite, as well as across the globe, sharing his unique blend of artistic interpretation and mastery of the darkroom.
Students will learn how to create digital negatives from digital files or film scans using Photoshop and Epson printers using Bostick & Sullivan calibrations, then make platinum prints from these images. After these platinum prints have been processed, dried and flattened, students will then add secondary layers of colored pigment on the surface of the image using the gum bichromate process. This creates a subtle, glowing image with subtle color tonalities.
